Fencing, new runs and repairs

Privacy fence, boundary fence, or the run that came down in the last big wind. Posts set to hold, panels run to a line, and the growth cleared off the boundary before anything goes in.

Every tree is different. Send the address and we come and look.

A fence is a simple thing that goes wrong in predictable ways. Posts not set deep enough, so the run leans within two winters. A line that was never strung, so it wanders. Or the boundary growth left in place and the fence built through it, which means blackberry and ivy are working on it from day one.

We clear before we build. On a lot of the fence lines we take on there is a decade of growth along it, sometimes an old fence buried in the middle of that, and often a tree or two whose roots are going to decide where a post can go. Because we do tree and brush work as well, all of that is dealt with by the same crew on the same job rather than being somebody else's problem to solve first.

Then the run gets set out. Post positions worked out so the spacing is even and the line is straight, posts dug and set to a depth that holds in ground that is wet for half the year, and the fence built to the line rather than to whatever the old one did. Where a run crosses a slope we agree with you at the start whether it steps down or follows the grade, because the two look very different and it is a decision worth making deliberately.

We repair as well as build. A few panels out of a long run after a storm, a gate that has dropped, posts rotted at the base on a fence that is otherwise sound. Replacing three posts is often the right answer and we will tell you when it is, rather than quoting a whole new fence because it is the bigger job.

One thing worth saying plainly. A boundary fence sits on a line that matters to two households, so agree it before it goes in. We will build where you tell us and we will happily talk to a neighbour with you, but we cannot decide where a boundary runs. Estimates are free and happen at the property.

Fence work and tree work meet more often than you would think. Roots in the line of a post, a hedge that has to come out before a run can go in, a limb over the boundary that will be sitting on the new fence by next summer. Because we do both, all of that is handled on the same job by the same crew instead of needing a second company before the fence can even start.

We are licensed with the Oregon Landscape Contractors Board under LCB #100776, bonded and insured, and the crew is in house. Estimates are free, they happen at the property because a fence line has to be walked to be quoted, and most jobs are quoted the same day we look. Nothing gets scheduled until you have the written quote and have said yes to it.

How the job runs

What to expect

  • The line is cleared first

Growth, an old buried fence and any roots in the way are dealt with by the same crew before a post hole is dug.

  • Set out before it is built

Post spacing and the line are worked out at the start, and how a run handles a slope is agreed with you rather than decided on the day.

  • Repair when repair is right

If three posts fix a fence that is otherwise sound, that is what we will quote, even though a whole new run is the bigger job.

Questions

Are your estimates really free?

Yes, and there is no obligation attached to one. We come to the property, walk it with you, look at the tree, the access and what is underneath it, and write the job up. It usually takes about fifteen minutes. Most jobs are quoted the same day we look.

I rent. Can you still do the work?

Yes, with the landlord's approval. Tree work changes the property permanently, so the person who owns it has to agree to it before we start. Get us a name and a number for the owner or the managing agent and we will deal with them directly if that is easier for you.

What happens after I send the form?

We call or text you back, usually the same day. We ask enough to know what we are coming to, then book a time to come and look at the property. The visit is free, it takes about fifteen minutes, and most jobs are quoted the same day we look. Nothing is booked in until you say so.

Send us the address. We will come and look.

Every tree is different, so we do not give numbers over the phone or off a photograph. Tell us where the property is and what is worrying you, and we will come out, walk it with you and write it up. The visit is free and most jobs are quoted the same day we look.
