Lebanon sits about thirteen miles southeast of Albany on the South Santiam, where the valley floor starts to give way to the foothills. It is the Strawberry Festival town, and it has the mix of older in town streets and larger rural acreage that produces two completely different kinds of tree work. In town the lots are modest and the trees standing on them are often older than the fences around them. Out towards the river and up the Santiam the properties get bigger, the timber gets serious, and what limits a job is how close we can get a trailer to it.

On the acreage around Lebanon the usual call is a large conifer or a broadleaf that has been left to its own devices for decades and is now close enough to a house, a barn or a drive to matter. Those are proper removals and they take planning. We walk the access first, because a hundred foot fir at the top of a property with no route for a chipper is a very different day from the same tree beside a drive.
