Landscape design, installation and planting

Landscaping is where this company started, and it is still half of what we do. Beds, planting, trees, bark, rock and the structure that holds it all together, designed and installed by the same crew.

Every tree is different. Send the address and we come and look.

A lot of our landscape work starts with tree work. A big tree comes out, a corner gets cleared, and suddenly there is an area of the property that has not been usable for years and now has full light on it. That is the moment most people start thinking about what the yard could be, and because we do both sides of the work, the same crew can carry on straight into it.

We design and install. That means we will walk the property with you, work out what you actually want from each part of it, and come back with a plan that suits the ground you have rather than a catalogue. Which side gets sun and when, where the water goes in a wet winter, what the soil is like, where you actually walk, and how much maintenance you genuinely want to be doing in three years. That last one changes more designs than anything else.

The work itself covers landscape beds cut in and edged, planting from ground cover through shrubs to new trees, bark and mulch, decorative rock, dry creek beds for the corners of a property that sit wet, and the paths and hardscape that tie it together. Fencing is on the same list. We can take on a whole yard or the one piece of it that is bothering you.

Planting a tree is worth doing properly, and we plant a lot of them. The right species for the spot rather than the one in the picture, the hole dug wide rather than deep, the root flare left where it should be and not buried, and staked only where it genuinely needs staking. A tree planted badly is a removal in fifteen years and we would rather not be back for that.

We take on both residential and commercial work. What we do not chase is the very small jobs, the tiny one off planting and the little patches, because a crew, a truck and a trailer turning out for half an hour does not add up for either of us. If it is a small job, say so when you call and we will tell you straight away whether it is one for us. Estimates are free and happen at the property, and most jobs are quoted the same day we look.

Doing it in stages is normal and we would rather you did that than stretched. A lot of our landscape work goes in over two or three visits across a year, and it is genuinely better that way, because you live with each part before deciding the next. What we will do is plan the whole thing up front so that the beds you put in this autumn are in the right place for the path that is coming next spring, rather than being moved.

Everything is installed by our own crew. Nothing here is subcontracted out, which means the person who walked the property with you is on the job when it goes in, and a question asked on the estimate gets the same answer on the day. We are licensed with the Oregon Landscape Contractors Board under LCB #100776, and we are bonded and insured, which on a project that involves digging on your property is worth checking on anybody you hire.

How the job runs

What to expect

  • A plan for your ground

We design round the light, the water and the soil you actually have, and round how much maintenance you want to do later.

  • One crew for the whole thing

The people who worked out the plan are the people who install it. Nothing is subcontracted out and nothing gets lost in the handover.

  • Built to still look right later

Trees planted at the right depth, beds edged so they hold their line, rock and bark laid deep enough to work. It should look better in year three, not worse.

One of the best landscaping services I've ever hired. They transformed our entire yard in just a day removing large trees and trimming back our overgrown foliage. They followed instructions perfectly as well.

Questions

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. We work on both residential and commercial property, and the process is the same on either. Somebody comes out, walks the site, writes it up and quotes it. On commercial work we are used to scheduling round tenants, parking and access.

Are your estimates really free?

Yes, and there is no obligation attached to one. We come to the property, walk it with you, look at the tree, the access and what is underneath it, and write the job up. It usually takes about fifteen minutes. Most jobs are quoted the same day we look.

What happens after I send the form?

We call or text you back, usually the same day. We ask enough to know what we are coming to, then book a time to come and look at the property. The visit is free, it takes about fifteen minutes, and most jobs are quoted the same day we look. Nothing is booked in until you say so.

Send us the address. We will come and look.

Every tree is different, so we do not give numbers over the phone or off a photograph. Tell us where the property is and what is worrying you, and we will come out, walk it with you and write it up. The visit is free and most jobs are quoted the same day we look.
